3 Things I Bought Last Year Which Have Made a Difference

1. Fanny pac

$25 nike pac from rebel sport.

Camelbac and Evoc have some right fancy fanny pacs selling for $150+. The thing I love about this one is its simplicity. Its light, has good volume and a really small contact patch with your back - zero padding which is a good thing, I have not had any problem with it moving or bouncing at all. A big fanny pack contact area is not far off a small back pack which for me is the key thing Im looking to avoid, let the body breath.  This little pack is a cracker.

2. Fancy glasses

Oakley jaw bones $180

I have been running safety specs and all kinds of cheap eye wear for years and then I got these. I have been really impressed. Really good eye coverage and very rarely fogs. I generally only use them for the descents as my eyes appear to be very sensitive to wind so they tear up rendering me half blind :-(. I haven’t tried any other fancy glasses but I suspect its not these in-particular but I just bought a quality pair for a change. Made a big difference and will continue to invest in the future.

3. Folding Saw

Folding saw $20 from Mitre 10

Been riding in an area (Bluff) with lots of deadfall and a small crew maintaining it. This little jobie fits in the fanny pac and makes amazingly short work of some descent size branches. Everyone raves about the silkies and Im keen but for $20.00 I had to give it a go, so far not been disappointed! #MakinBluffBuff
